Office Visits |
|
Office visits are by appointment and can be scheduled at any time during regular office hours up to six months in advance. When you arrive go directly to the front desk and check in. The receptionist may need information to update your file. Please advise the front desk staff of any changes in your insurance or home address and telephone number. Co-pays and deductibles are due at time of service. After you are called by the floor nurse you will be directed to a room where your blood pressure, pulse, and weight will be recorded. This information will be entered into the computer as well as any medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter, herbal medication, and vitamins. We depend on you to help us keep this list accurate and up-to-date. If you cannot remember the medications you are taking, please ask for a list to keep in your wallet or purse at all times. The nurse will then discuss with you the purpose of your visit and the issues that need to be addressed by the provider. It’s important for the provider to know what he or she needs to focus on. The time spent with your provider is divided between interview, exam, and discussion of recommendations and follow-up. When you leave you will be given a Summary and Instruction Sheet for your reference. If you are ill enough that you need to be seen today, you must tell the receptionist who answers the phone. If there are no available appointments in the schedule, you will be connected with one of our triage nurses who will discuss with you the nature of the problem and determine if the appointment needs to be worked in today or be scheduled in the near future. A work-in appointment is placed on top of a full schedule, so please be patient if it takes more time. Keep in mind, the provider will be able to address only the immediate problem and not other matters that will need a regularly scheduled appointment. If there is simply no way we can see you and you need to be seen, the emergency department of your choice is another option. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Brown have hospital privileges at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital only. We reserve a certain number of spaces in the schedule for same day appointments for acute illnesses. Our goal is to see all our patients who require immediate care as soon as possible.
