The first step in starting an exercise program is identifying how it will fit into your lifestyle.

 

Ask yourself:

 

·          Is it beneficial?

 

·          Is it enjoyable?

 

·          Is it safe?

 

·          Do I know the correct way?

 

·          Can I do this on a regular basis?

 

·          How will this fit into my schedule?

 

·          What will this cost me?

 

·          Are there any negative consequences?

 

Only you can decide if walking is the best for your fitness plan.  First, determine how many steps you take in an average day - from the time you get up in the morning to bedtime - following your normal routine.  Do this by wearing a pedometer.  Record the number of steps you take each day for 3 days.
