If you’re like most American’s, you may not be getting enough water a day. Only one in five American’s meets the “eight-a-day” recommendation, and one in ten American’s don’t drink any water at all. For a safe and effective workout, proper hydration is important. It will help your body to maintain a safe temperature, pump blood to your muscles, burn fat and calories, and cleanse your body of toxins accumulated during your workout.Tips to help you stay healthy during your exercise routine:
· At least two hours before you exercise drink 8 to 16 oz. of water or fluid to make sure you are well hydrated. Immediately before you exercise drink another 4 to 8 oz.
· Drink 4 to 8 oz. every 20 minutes during exercise. Your body needs to replenish the water you sweat out to remain cool. Schedule water breaks during your workout.
· Drink enough water to replace fluids lost during your workout. To determine that, weigh yourself prior to and after your workout; drink two cups of water for every pound you lost while exercising.
